Fairy Tale Towns - Year One Art and Design
In Year One we have been exploring the artwork of Mary Blair.
Mary Blair was an American artist, animator and designer who worked for The Walt Disney Company. We looked at her colourful pictures of buildings and towns.
This is how we created our own Fairy Tale Towns, inspired by the work of Mary Blair:
First we practised drawing shapes with curved and straight sides. This helped us to draw different buildings, windows and doors.
Then we used our imaginations to draw fantastic towns.
We chose bright colours to paint our towns, inspired by the artwork of Mary Blair. We also learnt how to wash our paintbrushes carefully.
Next we used pens to show the details in our buildings.
Finally we used charcoal and chalk pastels to create night time skies.
