Garden Suburb Infant School

Science Week: A Week of Fun, Experiments, and Discoveries!

What an exciting time the children have had during Science Week in our school!

Our classrooms have been buzzing with curiosity as the children have dived into the world of science, exploring, experimenting, and discovering new things. The incredible vocabulary the children have been using has been truly impressive. They have been talking like true scientists.

We started with a 'wow' assembly on Monday where Ms Patel talked about the theme of Science this year, "Change and Adapt" and got the children ready and excited with a fun science experiment that linked to the theme. On the final day, the children will have a celebratory assembly where they will share their learning and look at the fun science projects that have been happening at home.

Reception have explored everything from the changing seasons to the fascinating life cycles of animals and plants with mini experiments in class. They also had a chance to explore objects using different scientific equipment such as magnifiying glasses, a microscope, safety googles etc. They have been learning about science around them and the different stages of growth for some animals and plants.

Year One had a blast on their school trip to Kew Gardens where they explored the beautiful gardens and learnt all about how plants grow, it was an adventure full of fun facts.

The Year Twos had so much fun experimenting with different materials and looking at scientific processes like melting and freezing.

We’ve had lots of "wow" moments and plenty of giggles along the way.

It’s been a week full of learning, laughter, and a little bit of mess (the best kind of science!). Who knows what we'll discover next?
